As the Paris 2024 Olympic Games is right around the corner, the Sunshine Coast’s very own Lani Pallister is making waves. At the recent Australian Swimming Trials, Pallister delivered a series of remarkable performances, making her bound for Paris. Pallister’s dedication to the sport with her rigorous training regimen and natural talent have set her apart from the competitve field.
Her impressive results saw her finishing second with a time of 4:02.27, in the 400m freestyle, beating the qualification time by two seconds. Her triumph in this event is a testament to her hard work and the support of her coaching team and family.
Lani spoke to Nine News about this achievement, "It's been huge. I was thinking about three years ago all through today, to be honest, and I didn't think I'd be here standing behind the blocks."
Her drive and resilience is admirable after being diagnosed with a heart condition in 2021 to continue to strive for her goals. With the support of her coaches, Michael Bohl and her mum, Janelle Pallister, she will continue to thrive from her initial impact of the trials. A recent move to the Griffith University Swim Team in early 2021 has provided her with the resources and training to be able to perform to the best of her ability.
In the months leading up to Paris 2024, she will undoubtedly inspire and captive Australian’s across the nation. The Sunshine Coast community has rallied behind Pallister, whose journey to the Olympics serves as an inspiration to many athletes in the region. Sunshine Coast Sports wishes Lani the best of luck on the world stage and will do her community and family proud.
