EUMUNDI MAGPIES FC: A COMMUNITY-ORIENTED CLUB ON THE RISE
Established in 2020, non-for-profit member-based club, the Eumundi Magpies Football Club is leading the way for community sporting clubs on the Sunshine Coast.
Priding themselves on inclusion and accessibility, the club provides practical based soccer sessions with an emphasis on creating a fun and friendly environment for skill development and game understanding. By continuously creating a welcoming atmosphere for new members, the club seeks to not only grow interest in the sport, but also preserve the integrity of the game.
“The players learn skills that would make them not only a good athlete or football player… but one that understands the way we should play this sport” a club representative said.
Encompassing the overarching vision to be a leading, sustainable, community driven club - parents, volunteers, coaches and officials successfully collaborate with each to help young players grow through grassroots sports.
In order to provide a year-round non-competitive service to children from as young as 4, the club expresses gratitude for those that volunteer time and resources, while appreciating the personal commitments of its members. “We understand that families are already very busy, so we have attempted to ease their level of participation within the club…this has allowed us so far to create a relaxed environment and therefore a positive relationship with every member of the Club,” says a club spokesperson.
Ensuring that the game is led in a positive manner Eumundi Magpies FC recognises the incredible role that officials play within the sporting community. Furthermore, a leadership structure is in place to achieve a respectful environment for all parties.
“Our Managing Director is in charge of making sure that every player… is constantly reminded of the importance of teamwork and respect. Our Team Managers regularly meet with our Managing Director, so that the message is always passed along….”
By encouraging kids to stay healthy, active and connected from a young age, clubs like the Eumundi Magpies help the Sunshine Coast continuously evolve as a proud home to a rich sporting culture. With the Sunshine Coast Sports Annual Awards just around the corner we strongly encourage nominating clubs like the Eumundi Magpies so that they can received the recognition they deserve.
“This award means the world to the Eumundi Magpies. We have worked very hard in the past years, in all fronts, to establish the Club and build an identity. We want our players to play well this game however, we are very conscious that it must be in an inclusive environment, so our efforts have been around doing this in different ways”
